Common questions

Will it work with my existing EV battery?
Yes. The MPPT controller auto-detects your battery voltage on first power-up and configures itself. RamGen is compatible with 12V, 24V, 48V, and 72V systems. Your existing BMS handles all battery protection — RamGen just adds charge.
Does it create extra aerodynamic drag?
Minimal. The pod's aerodynamic profile is designed to reduce frontal area impact. At highway speed the power generated significantly outweighs any drag penalty. Net effect is always positive range.
How hard is the install?
Most customers complete it in under 2 hours with basic hand tools. You position the universal bracket on your roof leading edge, slide the pod on, route the single cable to your battery, and connect. No drilling. Full step-by-step guide included.
What happens when my battery is full?
The included dump load protection system automatically diverts excess generator output to the dump load resistor when the battery reaches full charge. No overvoltage. No damage. Everything is handled automatically.
What's the minimum speed for useful output?
RamGen begins generating at around 25 mph. Output increases with speed — useful city top-up at 35–45 mph, and maximum output at 65–75 mph highway speed.
Is it road legal?
RamGen mounts within your vehicle's roofline — no external protrusions beyond roof rack height. It connects to your existing electrical system. It is not a vehicle modification requiring regulatory approval in most jurisdictions. Check your local regulations for certainty.
